The first day was about getting set up and on the second night Malcolm put two rods in, one on the Mulberry Florentine and one on The Force, at 3:30am he was awoken by the Delkim screaming off and what a great fight the fish gave, streaming yards of line off the reel only to net a twenty pound plus Sturgeon, as this wasn’t a target fish he didn’t take any pictures and the fish was released straight away.
This was followed later that day with a small grass carp which had to be the smallest fish in the lake, with the sturgeon taking The Force Malcolm decided to put all three rods on the Mulberry Florentine.
The following night at 4:30am Malcolm landed a common of 31lb 8oz followed by a mirror of 31lb, both fish came within 20 mins.
For the next couple of days he experienced changing winds, huge rain storms along with a electrical storm that lasted over two hours, the next evening gave a fantastic sunset, all this weather seemed to have a negative effect on the lake though as the next three days he blanked.
The following night at 5:30am Malcolm hooked into this fantastic looking leather carp of 38lb 4oz, this fish has the potential to become a large fish considering its length.
Not the most prolific week but a brace of thirties in twenty minutes and a gorgeous looking carp meant that Malcolm was happy happy with his trip.
It was also the first time that he had used the Rod Hutchinson Cook Tent, what a great piece of kit this is room for all your cooking gear and two seats Malcolm and his friends ate well and in comfort all week, would never go on a long session without it, an absolute god send.
